So this is a movie that is incredible hard to talk about without going into spoilers but I'm gonna try my best. I know that everyone is saying that but it's true. There's so many things that happen in this movie and, to me, the 3 hours flew by because of how intense this movie can be. This is a very different movie than Infinity War, I was expecting it to basically be a sequel to that movie but it feels like it's own movie and I get why it wasn't just called Infinity War Part 2.
The acting and writing in this movie is Dark Knight level to me. Yes there is a good bit of humor but this movie gets very serious at times and I basically had tears in my eyes for the entire third act! The pacing is so great and so many unexpected things happen! I don't get super surprised by a lot but there were multiple things in this movie that made me say "Wow" out loud! The third act of this movie is unlike anything I've ever seen on a movie screen and man I hope that people don't get spoiled of what happens. This movie has more spoilers in it than Infinity War as hard as that is to believe.
I do want to talk about seeing this movie if you aren't caught up on the MCU movies. If you aren't caught up and have only seen Infinity War then you may want to watch a few movies before because this is very much a character movie and a lot will go over your head if you don't know these characters. I would make sure you've seen these movies: Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy, Age of Ultron, Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Antman and the Wasp. I get that's a lot of the movies but trust me, you'll need to know what happened in those movies to appreciate this one. This movie is basically a series finale and they don't explain much what happened in the past.
After seeing it once I'm not ready to say it's my favorite superhero movie ever but it's definitely up there. I'm seeing it again this weekend because there's so much to take in that there's no way you will pick even half of it up with one viewing. It's one of the most satisfying conclusions I've seen in my life and cried several times. I normally don't cry seeing movies in theaters but I literally count help it. I've been with these characters for 11 years and this movie meant so much to me.
I want to mention the music real quick. I have loved Alan Silvestri's score in all the other Avengers movies but this score is something special. It made so many of the moments that much more intense/emotional/important and I think he deserves some award nominations for it!
I was going to talk about some of my favorite characters but I think that might get into spoilers so I'll just mention Thanos. In my opinion he's the best on-screen villain I've ever seen and this movie cemented that. Don't let how he was at the end of Infinity War fool you, he's still a huge threat here and I might even say he's more of a threat!
I loved this movie and it's all I've thought about since seeing it. It feels important and more like a cultural event than a big budget movie. As a kid reading comics I never thought I would see a movie like this in my life and now that I have it's hard to process. It's an all timer and will be hard to not be my favorite movie of 2019...maybe ever, who knows with repeated viewings.
