I'm one of those people that tends to like a lot of things that others don't, especially when it comes to movies. I'm a fan of movies and there's very few movies that I see that I hate. I tend to see the good in most movies even if the movie as a whole is kinda meh. I respect the creative decisions that some writers/directors make with characters, even characters that are well known. And I totally get that some movies on this list are considered "bad" but it's whatever haha! I like them! So let's get to it!
8. Suicide Squad
I had high hopes for this movie and most of them were met! Having the Joker in it less is probably the main issue I had. I know that's opposite of a lot of people cause some wanted more of him. I really liked the Joker here but I thought having a cameo would've made more sense.
I love the visuals in this movie! It's so colorful and most scenes pop off the screen. The music is also very good and I still listen to some songs off the soundtrack all the time. Will Smith was good as Deadshot but seeing a live action Harley Quinn was so great and Margot Robbie killed it! She's signed on to be her again in the sequel and a few more movies! The Extended Cut did add some scenes that fleshed characters out. The one with Joker and Harley was one I was surprised it was cut. I get that the plot of the movie is a tad all over the place but it's such a fun movie and looks so good and for me, that was what I wanted!
7. Halloween 2
Ok look, I know people hated this movie! This was such a different take on Michael Myers but this is my favorite version of the character. The first movie gave him character and this movie was him dealing with his inner demons. And yeah, I get that this movie has a ton of downtime for a horror movie but that's why I like it. Rob Zombie wanted to show the man behind the mask that we never got in the original movies!
I don't want this to make it sound like I don't like the original movies because I do! That first movie set the standard for a new tone in Horror. I'm just one of those people that thought Rob Zombie's movies were more interesting and had a deeper lore. Definitely not as much mystery, but I loved the look we got inside the character in this movie!
6. Hulk
I feel like I'm going to defend this movie to my grave! I liked The Incredible Hulk and I actually think Ed Norton is a better fit for Hulk but that's just me. This movie was a huge risk that I thought it worked really well but I'm definitely in the minority with that!
Ang Lee made the Hulk a sympathetic character and I think people just wanted destruction since this was the first time the Hulk had been on the big screen outside of the TV show. I loved the questioning he did as the Hulk and I thought Eric Bana was a great Banner and Jennifer Connelly was the perfect Betty Ross! The action was cool and honestly...the Hulk looked cooler in this movie than he does in the current MCU movies, but again...that's just me.
5. Scarface
This movie is in my personal top 3 movies ever made! I love the story of how greed can corrupt and the main character getting killed in such a simple way was so realistic and I loved it! I think a lot of people don't like this movie because of Al Pacino's performance. I thought it was very good and over the top because he was supposed to be over the top!
"The World Is Yours" quote that he has in his house is a quote that I use when putting quotes on things like PSN or Twitter. I also have a framed poster of the movie cause I consider it one of the coolest art images in film! I know loving this movie is cliché at this point but whatever, I love it!
4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Since this movie made over $1 Billion worldwide I know that I'm not alone in liking this movie, but man people seem to hate these movies! I didn't grow up watching the cartoon so these movies were really my first dive into Transformers and I really liked all these movies! This is my favorite movie in the franchise so that's why I went with it.
I get that these movies have goofy moments but so do the Marvel movies and they get a pass with everything they do! To me, this is one of the best action movies ever made! The ending battle in Chicago is one of the most impressive endings to an action movie I've ever seen! I think these movies are fun but I am interested in seeing what the rebooted movies will be like in the coming years!
3. The Matrix Reloaded
This is my favorite Matrix movie! For some reason people really love to crap all over this one and Revelations. The fight scenes in this movie were like nothing I had seen before. They literally built an interstate to film the final scenes of this movie! It's so good! The characters got fleshed out in this and the story got kinda nuts!
I know that the first movie is regarded as the only good one of the trilogy but I never understood that. I really like the first movie but it really felt like the first act and they saved most of the story for the other movies. Cause we didn't learn anything about what was going on with the story and we did in the other movies. I'll always consider this the best movie in the series!
2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
This was my favorite movie the year it came out! I was so hyped for this movie and it was so satisfying to me! I loved what Zack Snyder was doing with the DC movies and this very dark tone matched the comics I grew up with. This movie had the best on-screen Batman I've ever seen and seeing Wonder Woman on the big screen for the first time was an amazing moment that I'll honestly take with me for the rest of my life!
People seemed to think the pacing was off and the characters under developed but I just didn't agree with that. The Ultimate Edition added a lot to the movie and fleshed out some stuff that was cut from the original movie. This movie felt like a comic book brought to life and I loved everything about it!
1. Spring Breakers
This is one of those movies that I will totally understand if someone hates it. All the other movies on this list I will defend and present reasons why things were the way they were, but this is a personal taste kind of movie. I remember watching it for the first time and everyone I saw it with hated it. Most people I know hate this movie so haha!
I loved the dark/dirty feels this movie had and the way it was shot was very unique and had a 90s music video feel to it. James Franco was amazing in this movie and I really thing he should've gotten some awards love for this role! I have a thing for Selena Gomez and some people think that was a big reason why I like this movie and that may play into it, but I do have a weird love for this movie! The ending and story are whatever, this movie is more of an experience to me.
