For the past several years Fastlane has been the lead-in PPV to WestleMania and this year is no different. The main difference this year is that it is a SmackDown Live PPV. This is supposedly the last brand exclusive PPV. It's rumored that after Mania the brands will go back to a single roster which is the way I prefer it honestly. But we aren't here to talk about that yet, we have to talk about this PPV.
I know a lot of people are thinking that this is going to a ho-hum PPV to lead to a bigger one but I'm thinking something big might happen. There's one title that I think has NO chance to change but honestly the others have a chance to change and I'm calling something finally happening! So let's get on to my predictions!
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (Champions) vs The New Day
These teams have put on some of the best tag team matches of the past several years! Their match in the Hell in a Cell was amazing! The build up hasn't been as good as the others but they did have a heated exchange on SmackDown a few weeks ago. Big E got legit fired up! I think The Usos retain but I also think we might see a Bludgeon Brothers appearce that result in it. We might see a fatal four way match for these belts at Mania, so I can't see them changing hands before then.
Becky Lynch and Naomi vs Natalya and Carmella
Umm...this match just kinda seems like a Tuesday night SmackDown match. I mean I'm all about seeing these women in matches cause they're all good but there's not much of a reason for this match other than to just have it. They have been wrestling each other the past few weeks but other weeks they are involved in Riott Squad stuff so I don't know. I say Becky Lynch and Naomi win to set up some Women's Title stuff for Mania. I also think we may see Carmella later on the show!
United States Championship Match: Bobby Roode (Champion) vs Randy Orton
I do really wish this was a triple threat match and Jinder Mahal was in it but it's whatever. There has been some decent build up for the US belt lately and Roode looks good as the champ. The only reason Randy will win this match is if they want to give him the grand slam since the US belt is the only belt he's never held. I can see them giving him that at Mania but probably not here. I also think Jinder will get involved in some way and Roode will end up hitting a Glorious DDT and he'll retain. I'm expecting a triple threat match at Mania.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Rusev
I have no idea why this match is on the card. The Rusev Day chant is the most over thing in WWE right now and Nakamura won the Rumble and is super over. So the crowd is going to cheer for both, which I guess isn't a bad thing. I'm not saying this match is going to be bad or anything, cause these are two of the best wrestlers in the WWE, here's just been zero build for it. Nakamura is going to win because him loosing before his championship match at Mania would make no sense. I can see this match being like 10 mins and we just move on.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Charlotte Fair (Champion) vs Ruby Riott
I like Ruby and thought she was awesome in NXT. I like all the members of the Riott Squad but I don't care for what creative have been doing with them since they came to main roster. They've just kinda thrown them into random matches. They finally told the reason they showed up this past Tuesday and man that look long enough! I know I'm talking around Charlotte and that's because I think there's no way she doesn't win this match! I think it will be a good match cause they're both good and have had good matches over the past few weeks. I do think that after the match the Riott Squad will come in the ring and attack Charlotte and then Becky and Naomi will come out and have a brawl. Now...this is when I think Carmella comes out and takes advantage of the chaos and she cashes in her Money in the Bank and wins the SmakDown Women's Championship! Then she'll walk into Mania as the champ!
WWE Championship Six-Pack Challenge Match: AJ Styles (Champion) vs John Cena vs Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn vs Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler
I'm really looking forward to this match cause I think it's going to be chaos! Having Sammy turn on KO Tuesday hopefully means we will see them brawl throughout. A match like this is no DQ so I'm wanting some ladders and tables to be broken all over the place and even go into the audience some. I think Dolph and Baron have no chance of winning this match cause having them go against Nakamura at Mania doesn't sound interesting. I think KO and Sammy will basically fight each other out of the match and set up a match at Mania with them. So that leaves AJ and Cena.
The story going into this match is Cena trying to find a way into Mania. He lost the Elimination Chamber and won a match against AJ to get into this match. So I think either Cena wins this match, goes into Mania a 17 time champ and makes it a triple threat match against AJ and Nakamura, or AJ pins Cena to win. I ultimately think AJ will win since they have been teasing the match with Nakamura and fans would be pissed if that changed. I just hope we don't see the Undertaker on RAW or SmackDown next week if Cena looses, but I have a feeling we might.
