1st Good Thing - The Kickoff Show
I always have the kickoff show on before a PPV and it's normally pretty meh. It stood out to me last night because it was nice to have Renee Young back after she wasn't allowed to be on The Greatest Royal kickoff show since women can't be part of sports in Saudi Arabia. I just associate WWE kickoff shows with her cause she's awesome at what she does and when she isn't on one I'm always disappointed.
The Iconics were great and the match on the kickoff show was the best women's match of the night. Ruby Riott beat Bailey and looked strong doing it. I really like Ruby and think she is definitely championship material! I also like the Riott Squad and think they are being used better on Raw than they were on Smackdown.
1st Bad Thing - US Championship Match
I really like Randy Orton but he looked so disinterested in this match. Thank God Jeff Hardy is still flying around doing crazy stuff at his age but even that didn't make this match very entertaining. So many holds and I never thought Orton was even close to winning the belt. We didn't even see an RKO! I guess that means that Orton is out of the US title picture as of now since we really didn't have a build up to this match. It was just kind of a meh match and was one of the shortest matches of the night.
2nd Good Thing - Intercontinental Championship Match
This was the first official match of the show and it was the strongest match of the night! I love The Miz and Seth Rollins cause they always leave everything in the ring and they told such a great story in this match! It was so fast paced and Seth ate 2 Skull Crushing Finalies and kicked out of both. Pretty much everyone knew that the belt was staying on Raw since the US belt is on Smackdown but I kinda thought The Miz was gonna win a few times. It would've been cool to have both mid card belts on Smackdown for a while but that's fine. Seth won with a curb stomp after having his knee worked for the majority of the match.
2nd Bad Thing - Nia's Post Match Speech
I thought the Raw Women's Championship match was fine. It went about as well as their Mania match did. Bliss went for Nia's legs a lot and that makes sense with the size difference. I did like when Bliss knocked Nia off the top rope and went outside the ring and did a DDT to her on the steps, that was a good spot. Nia caught Bliss going for a Twisted Bliss and did a Samoa Slam and won. After the match was over Nia was interviewed about her win and she went into a speech about anti-bullying and it just came off as super corny to me. You can tell she was plugging the WWE Be A Star campaign they do and it felt weird. I really like Nia but she should've beaten Bliss in like 3 minutes if they want put her over.
3rd Good Thing - Elias Segment
This was legit amazing! Elias came out to perform a song and the New Day came out with instruments wanting to play with him. After that Aiden English and Rusev came out to interrupt him. After that No Way Jose came out with Titus Worldwide and the Fashion Police was part of his dance line. Between all of them coming out he would ask JoJo to dim the lights and introduce him again and that was great! It ended with Bobby Roode coming out and giving him a Glorious DDT and he danced with everyone up the ramp. I wan't big on Roode dancing but this segment was so much fun!
3rd Bad Thing - WWE Championship Match Finish
Now the match it's self was really solid! The finish of this match was the bad part. This is the 3rd match with Styles and Nakamura and this was probably the best one so far. There were a lot of high flying moves and some stiff punches! AJ threw a chair and it bounced off Nakamura's knee and hit AJ in the face. It cut him open pretty bad and was a great imagine. Nakamura got in a low blow and then AJ finally did one back to him. Both of them kicked each other in the nuts and neither could get up from the 10 count and that ended the match. It was so lame! I was expecting Paige to come out and restart the match since their last mach ended in a similar fashion. I get that they want to continue this feud but they need to not be afraid to let them play hot potato with the belt during it. It wasn't the main event and I knew there was a reason why, didn't think it would be this though.
4th Good Thing - Mella Was Money
Most predicted Carmella to keep the Smackdown Women's Championship since she has only been the champ for a few weeks. The match wasn't the best cause it was mainly Charlotte dominating most of it until she got "injured" and Carmella took advantage. I kinda like that Carmella won pretty clean since most thought the Iconics would come out and help. Having her win clean makes her a more relevant champ and I'm honestly not sure if Charlotte will get another rematch soon or not. I personally would love Becky Lynch to get in the title scene but that's me. Carmella still needs some more ring work but she is one of the best people on the mic in the WWE and I hope she stays champ for a while!
4th Bad Thing - The Tag Match
I mean...this match was pointless. The big thing that happened was that apparently Kevin Owens and Sammy Zayn are going to break up but maybe not? They got into it and fought a little but it could've just been that neither guy wanted to fight Braun. Bobby Lashley is great in the ring but it's almost like creative doesn't know what the hell they are doing with him. This match wan't very long and it ended with Braun cleaning house and Bobby pinning Sammy to win even though they weren't the legal men, but who cares right? This match was thrown together the Raw before the PPV and you could tell cause it felt messy.
5th Good Thing - Daniel Bryan Winning
The lead up to the Bryan and Big Cass match was kinda weak. I liked the initial reason that Cass was mad since he got cleared to come back the same day that Daniel did and was jealous. They went away from that angle though and focused on how big Big Cass was instead. The match wasn't bad and actually pretty evenly fought. Bryan got the Yes Lock on Cass and he tapped out immediately and that was the right move. It makes sense to have Daniel win cause he's better in the ring and Cass beat up Daniel after the match and that was the right move as well. It made both look strong and they can keep going with this or move on and both would make sense. I was fully expecting Cass to win but glad he didn't!
5th Bad Thing - Reigns/Joe
First off, why the hell was this the main event?! Nothing was on the line, it was a normal match with a ton of holds, and ended up being a Roman win. The match started up great with Joe beating the crap out of Roman and putting him though a table before the match started. After that it went to an extremely slow pace and there was no reason that Joe shouldn't have just finished the match early or hell, even just get a chair and being disqualified. Having this match never get started or have it end in a no contest would've made way more sense here than the WWE Championship match. This was basically another Roman match where he comes back to win and now I don't know where Joe will be in the WWE Championship picture.
