This week is Iron Banner and it's the first 6v6 IB for Destiny 2. If you don't play the game, it's a deal because all the multiplayer modes have been 4v4 until now. Adding more players is part of the string of updates Bungie has done to the game since it came out. When it came out last September people were going nuts about it and loving it for the most part but then people beat the story and after the Raid had been out a while people stated falling off. It's understandable to move on to other games after playing it but people left this game very fast and by the hundreds! A big reason they left was the grind for weapons and gear isn't the same as the first game. The weapons have set rolls so once you have a gun, you basically have that gun. I get not wanting to play much if you have everything or get burnt out but I keep coming back to the game regardless and wanted to talk about why.
The way it feels to shoot a gun in Destiny 2 is the best feeling of any FPS I have played! The first game felt great but this game feels even better for some reason. I usually play all the Call of Duty games and they feel close but the movement speed in Destiny 2 feels great ever since they updated the movement speed with the "Go Fast" update. You get Supers a lot faster and it's just more fun to play! There's also so many unique weapons in the game and so many combinations you can use and it really changes the way things play depending on what guns you have with you.
This is gonna sound random but the way that some of the enemies heads explode when you shoot them is unlike anything I've ever seen! The game is rated T so it's not as violent as it sounds but it's just so cool to see Fallen's heads pop and see the Taken basically turn into a vortex and vanish! It's stuff like that that makes me good with replaying all the strikes and doing the weekly stuff that I've done 100 times by now.
I also don't have all of the gear and weapons yet and that's a big reason I come back. The people I played with when the game came out all fell off so I use the Guided Games to play Nightfalls and Raids now. It's kind of a pain and I would like to find a group to play with but that's a reason to keep playing regardless. They really need to just put matchmaking with the Nightfalls at this point. You don't really need to communicate to play a Nightfall, it's just a harder version of a strike and they took the time limit out so it's even easier to play with randoms. And honestly, the Raid should be a thing with matchmaking but that's for another time cause I know there are people that very much disagree with that!
New dlc content will always bring me back! Warmind is the second dlc for the game and it's coming out May 8th. I thought Curse of Osiris was really solid but I hope there's more story content with Warmind. I kinda have a feeling that it's going to be more of the same as far as that goes but we'll see. There are gonna be a slew of updates along with the dlc and I'm looking forward to checking those out like: Exotic Masterworks Weapons, Heroic Strike Modifiers, More Vault Space, Private Matches and Ranked Crucible Matches!
I honestly think that Destiny 2 is a great game that is still fun to play! I get that the grind isn't there like it was in the first game but I still enjoy jumping back in the game and playing it every week or so and I probably will continue to play it for the foreseeable future! I fully trust Bungie to update the game and come out with content I want to play during the lifetime of this game!
