So if you are confused by the title, let me explain myself a little bit before we get into things here - A lot of the time before a big game comes out you can get on Twitch a few days before and you will see people streaming it, or the week a big movie is coming out people will post their spoiler review of it on YouTube. Because most people will post a base review of a movie and then a spoiler one later on. Like before Black Panther came out I saw people posting spoiler reviews of it. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. So now that you have an idea of what I'm talking about let's get into the point of this post.
This is going to be a bit of a rambling post, just so you are aware haha! Look, I get that things like games and movies need to have early screenings and early copies need to go to outlets/people to review them before they come out but some of this stuff needs to stop. Like I can't tell you how many times it will be the week before a game is released and some of the people I follow on YouTube will already have around 5 or 6 parts of their Let's Play of the game up. I'm not opposed in any way of them having the game early to go ahead and make their videos for it but they shouldn't be allowed to post them until the day of release! Cause I'll see thumbnails of stuff I would've wanted to see in game and not there. And yeah, sometimes they post images of things that wasn't in the trailers or gameplay videos the devs made and I hate that stuff! Now once the game is out then post whatever the hell you want, but not the week before it's out! That's the YouTube side of things, now let's talk about the Twitch side of stuff!
I think it's so damn weird to allow streamers to play the full game on stream a week before the game is released! I'll give some streamers credit though, they wait until release day even if they already have it and I appreciate them! Like I said before, I'm not against them getting the games early at all! It gives them a chance to review the game if they want but if you're a streamer and you're playing the full game that early, I don't get it. I guess the marketing team for the game might think if people see the whole game being played that might make them want to go buy it? But that also gives people the option to just watch the whole damn game and not play it themselves and get it when it's on sale down the road. Now I do think there are exceptions for this. Multiplayer games like Battlefield or Call of Duty should have their multiplayer out there as early as possible, that's cool! There's nothing to spoil by seeing stuff like that, but these story-heavy games basically having the entire story out there before the game is out just baffles me.
Movies/TV shows are pretty much the same way. Again, I get having early screenings for movies and shows so that people can put out a review. I've honestly gotten to the point that I don't watch/read reviews of things until after I see them but that's just me. After Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice I kinda lost respect for a lot of critics and I know, you can roll yours eyes if you want haha! The thing that bothers me is that people will post spoiler reviews days before the movie/show comes out, what's the point of that? I guess for people who aren't gonna go watch the movie and just wants to hear about it I guess? They should be allowed to post spoiler stuff the day it comes out so people don't see a thumbnail of something with spoilers! And I get that this is me complaining about something that's not an overly important thing but it's always bothered me.
I guess the reason the content creators do this is for views. I don't think that's a bad thing at all, but it just needs to chill a bit. Some people are very respectful of the content and let people know when spoilers will be happening but others just post the stuff in their picture for the video. And I want to emphasize that I'm not pointing the finger solely at the content creators, it's the marketing team for the gaming/movie companies that allows them to post the stuff. I don't want to make this post super long or anything, I just wanted to get my opinions out there on this cause it's bothered me for a while.
Thanks for reading, hope you have a good one!
